Last night, I got the opportunity to talk with the group from Houston and tell them what a blessing it was for me to hear them in the morning. They in turn invited us to come and worship with them this morning. And of course I accepted.
What a blessing it truly was. We sang a few songs and than they had a brief devotion.
One song in particular touched me:
You're the God of this city
You're the King of these people
You're the Lord of this nation
You Are
You're the light in this darkness
You're the hope to the hopeless
You're the peace to the restless
You are
There is no one like our God
There is no one like our God
For greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done
In this city
Greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done
In this city
You're the Lord of Creation
The Creator of all things
You're the King above all kings
You Are
You're the strength in our weakness
You're the love to the broken
You're the joy in the sadness
You Are
For greater things have yet to come
Greater things are still to be done
In this city
When glory shines from hearts alive
With praise for You and love for You
In this city
Greater things have yet to come
Greater things are still to be done
In this city
Greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done here
My friend Holly gave me a cd a while back that had this song on it, and I had liked it but today the song really touched me and I now have the song on repeat on iTunes and have listed to it eight times since our meeting less than an hour ago.
For me, it really makes me think about this city of Jinotega. Greater things have yet to come to this city, greater things are still to be done here. God is the God of this city Jinotega. He is the King of the people here. He is the Lord of Nicaragua. I might feel very small and insignificant here and that there is no fruit from my efforts (not that I should be looking and I'm not) but God is still God. He is the same God that was with me in the States. He hasn't changed just because I am in a different country. He might be called by different names here, but He is still just as powerful as He has always been and He is still very much in control.
